Oonagh McMullin
Lead
Oonagh McMullin joined the Second Wind Community Band in 2007, shortly after immigrating to Canada from Ireland. Inspired by a write-up in the Cape Breton Post, she had her clarinet sent over and has considered the band her foster family ever since. With extensive experience in education and 15 years in retail management with Sobeys, Oonagh balances her musical passion with a fulfilling life alongside her husband and friends in her new Canadian home.

Elizabeth Buffett
Co-Lead
Elizabeth Buffett, a retired Nursing professor from CBU, joined SWCB as a true novice, never having played an instrument before her children became part of the school band program. Their love of music inspired her to start learning the French Horn, and finding her own joy in its community which she considers family. A dedicated volunteer with Hospice Palliative Care and the Girl Guides of Canada, she also enjoys golf, travel and time with her husband Doug, 2 children and 4 grandchildren.

George LeBlanc
Treasurer
With over 40 years engineering experience, George LeBlanc P. Eng is a founding member of the Second Wind Community Band since its inception in 1993. In retirement, he continues to enjoy playing trumpet with the group and sharing his love of music with those around him.

Jenny Addicott
Secretary
Jenny Addicott retired from the Canadian Armed Forces in 2007. In retirement, she fulfilled her dream of playing the flute, by taking lessons from Laura Mercer and joining Second Wind Community Band where she has been enjoying the challenge of playing with a wonderful diverse all ages group of musicians ever since. She serves as SWCB Board Chair, and as a member of the NS Public Advisory Group for Mental Health and Addictions. Jenny has two children and loves RVing, gardening, hiking, country life and traveling with her husband Jim on their many adventures.

Gwen Boyce
Librarian
Gwen Boyce is a skilled and dedicated musician who plays trombone in the Second Wind Community Band. A proud graduate of the prestigious music program at St. Francis Xavier University (St. F X), she has a deep passion for music and education. Over her remarkable 37-year career in music education, Gwen inspired countless students, fostering their growth and appreciation for music. Since retiring in 2012, she has continued to share her love of music by actively participating and contributing her talent and experience to the ensembles she is involved with.

Kim Bungay
Logistics Co-ordinator
Kim Bungay has been passionate about music for most of her life, beginning with childhood piano lessons and later playing clarinet in high school. After a ten year break she joined the Second Wind Community Band in its third year and has been an enthusiastic member ever since. Originally from Ontario, Kim moved to Sydney in 1992 and now teaches music and band classes aming other subjects in the Cape Breton school system

Julie Boudreau
Social Media Manager
Julie Boudreau r discovered her love for music after picking up her tenor saxophone in 2015, following a decade-long break during her career as a physiotherapist. A former member of school and community bands, she joined Second Wind, where she remastered her saxophone skills and learned flute and piccolo. Since 2017, Julie has been a part of the band’s leadership, managing social media, the website, and serving as CB BandFest Treasurer. Balancing her musical commitments with raising two children, Sophie and Thomas, alongside her husband John, she continues to give back to the band that reignited her passion for music.
